Amor fati (Latin: “the love of fate”) depicts an eastern cottontail (Sylvilagus floridanus) locked in a tense, postured encounter with a Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus). The engagement takes place at the edge of a woodland, a patch of selfheal (Prunella vulgaris) at the rabbit’s paw, with expansive backdrop behind.
